Given summer 2016 Olympics the are nearly here, and they are being hosted at Rio in Brazil, you might be forgiven for thinking this was going to be another in a series of endless new Brazil flavoured slot games this summer. Actually, this is not the case, I thought it would be a great time to revisit one of my favourite High 5 Games slot machines, the Brazilia slot machine, which is based in a mythical kingdom of the same name rather than referencing the modern South American country.

As we have seen in the incredible HBO Game of Thrones series, creating a mythical world in which to place your theme allows a lot of scope for imagination and ingenuity versus being stuck with historical fact. Brazilia makes the most of this, combining elements from Greek, Asian and Latin cultures together to give us a wonderful glimpse of this unique fantasy world.

Seasoned veterans of slot games and new players alike will find this an easy slot to setup. The audio is the only let down in the entertainment side of things as it does largely fail to excite, though it manages not to annoy.

The games free spins round can be activated by landing 3 or more of the waterfall scatter symbols anywhere on the reels, like many other H5G slot titles they can’t be re-triggered, which seeing how well that plays in the Birds of Wonder slot, we are a little disappointed at. On the bright side the waterfall scatters also double up, with two falls on one icon counting as two scatters in the initial trigger, increasing the frequency with which the spins are triggered by a decent amount.

Whilst I would like to see them do away with playing cards altogether and hire a new audio designer, I’m nit picking, overall this is a very popular solid slot game with a novel fantasy theme that isn’t trying too hard.

We love the theme on Brazilia, we aren’t as sure about the Split Symbol mechanic, on the plus side it allows many more opportunities to combine larger wins than normal, on the other, it lowers the overall variance and penalises slightly the value of the big five of a kind wins we are used to seeing. That said the payouts are still generous, the Princes and Princess are lovely and the whole game is put together very well.
